The San Francisco 49ers continue their win streak with a big time victory against the number one defense in Jacksonville. Read for unit grades!

Jimmy Garoppolo led the way again, along with a pretty impressive day for the San Francisco 49ers defense. The Jacksonville Jaguars came into the game with the number one defense, but that didn’t stop Garoppolo and company from finishing the Jaguars off with a score of 44-33. No doubt is this the best win for the 49ers in this frustrating, yet now amazing season.

Each unit had a solid day, even though the Jaguars put up 33 points.

Offense

Jimmy Garoppolo, yet again, had a monster performance. He threw for 242 yards on 70 percent completion percentage. He also accounted for three total touchdowns, two through the air and one on a quarterback sneak.

This offense also saw huge production from their rookies, which is certainly a great sight to see as these youngsters continue to develop.

Two fifth-round picks, tight end George Kittle and receiver Trent Taylor, each had a touchdown reception. Kittle hauled in a pass between a few defenders, turned around, and made a leaping effort to get in for six. Taylor had a tough catch as Garoppolo rolled out to his left and sidearmed a pass around a defender which somehow landed in Taylor’s hands.

In the running game, Matt Breida stole the show. Carlos Hyde ran for over 50 yards, but was outplayed by the rookie Breida, who had over 70 yards rushing on 11 carries, including the game-sealing 30 yard touchdown run.

Other notable performances: Kyle Juszczyk led the 49ers in receptions and yards, having five catches for 76 yards, including a 44-yard career-long catch and run. Marquise Goodwin‘s hot streak was slowed down today, as he had three catches for 37 yards. The offensive line also only allowed one sack to the team that has the most this season.

Grade: A+, because why not for such a fantastic performance?

Defense

The Jaguars’ offense was performing really well recently, especially due to Leonard Fournette‘s impact and the sudden improved play of Blake Bortles. However, the 49ers brought the offense back down to earth. Bortles threw for 382 yards on 32-of-50 passing, with two touchdowns and most notably, three interceptions. Most of these yards came on simple checkdowns to T.J. Yeldon late in the game during their attempted comeback.

Fournette was held to 48 yards on 18 carries with a goal line touchdown, but wasn’t involved in the game during that attempted comeback.

The secondary did struggle, which was expected at they allowed Keelan Cole to have 108 yards receiving and Dede Westbrook to have 74 yards.

Dontae Johnson had another game to forget, except for the fact that he had a pick six on Bortles. Cornerbacks K’Waun Williams and Ahkello Witherspoon also had interceptions, with Williams coming on an impressive one-handed grab. Rookie Solomon Thomas also added a sack, the 49ers’ only sack of the game.

Grade: A-. At times they played too conservative and failed to adjust properly, but great game overall.

Special Teams

Not much happened for the special teams unit today, mainly because the offense did their job.

The only notable stat from the unit was that kicker Robbie Gould drilled a 27-yard field goal for three points. He also had an extra point blocked which was returned for two points, the only downside for the unit.

Grade: A-
