Oakland Raiders: Five Who Should Be Considered For OC Job In 2018

This one would be the most awkward of any potential hire. It would also probably be the most beneficial to this Oakland Raiders team.
Still, it would be awkward as all get out. It would be like going back to your ex-wife, after you already dumped her for a younger, prettier girl, admitting you made a mistake, and asking her to take you back.

But, honestly, that’s what should happen. Jack Del Rio should fly out to see Musgrave, hat in one hand, a dozen roses and chocolate in the other, fall to his knees if necessary and beg him to come back. Like, literally beg him. Tears in his eyes and everything.
It was never flashy or overly-exciting, but Raiders fans can now see just how different this offense was with Musgrave calling the shots as opposed to Downing. It seems fair to say that much of the Raider Nation gained a new-found appreciation for Musgrave in all his vanilla glory.
Under Musgrave, as has been well documented, the Raiders moved from the bottom of the league, offensively speaking, to near the top. The high point coming in what would prove to be Musgrave’s final season with the team – sixth-best overall, sixth-best running game, seventh-best scoring offense.
And the team seemed poised to go even higher.
Yeah, that arrow seemed to be pointing upward on this Oakland offense until Downing got his greasy paws on it.
Under Musgrave, Oakland’s offense never looked unprepared, overmatched, or overwhelmed – three things that have been a hallmark of Downing’s brief tenure. Under Musgrave, the Raiders offense, while maybe not flashy, was efficient and did what they did very well.
Though still under contract to Denver, the possibility of major coaching changes in the Mile High city, following a devastatingly disappointing season, could mean that Musgrave is cut loose
The reunion would be awkward, there’s no denying it. But, it could prove incredibly beneficial to this offense and to this team. At least, until somebody younger and prettier happens by.
