The San Francisco 49ers, coming off a much needed bye, host the Seattle Seahawks who are coming off a short week. Let’s preview the Week 12 matchup!

The 1-9 San Francisco 49ers will host the 6-4 Seattle Seahawks in Levi’s Stadium. San Francisco is the only team in the NFC West currently riding a win as the other teams in the division are all  coming off losses.

San Francisco is coming off a 31-21 victory at home over the New York Giants in their last game. The Seahawks, on the other hand, are looking to bounce back after a 31-34 loss at home against the Atlanta Falcons.

Seattle is in desperate need of a win and you figure that Russell Wilson and company will look to dominate the young 49ers team.

Both teams have been hit hard by the injury big but when you have a quarterback like Russell Wilson who will keep Seattle in the game until the last play of the game, you can always count on him to deliver.

Now, let’s dive into the preview points!

C.J. Beathard vs. Russell Wilson

San Francisco 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard was named the starting quarterback for this game by first year head coach Kyle Shanahan.

With newly acquired quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo still waiting to get his first minutes as a 49er, Beathard needs to have himself a big game again to have a shot at starting again next week.

Against the Giants two weeks ago, Beathard accounted for three total touchdowns (two pass, one rush), while throwing for 288 yards.

The Seattle secondary has been banged up big time and they will be without stars Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman.

As for Wilson, he is playing a 49ers defense who also has secondary issues, particularly at the safety position.

Jimmie Ward, Jaquiski Tartt and Adrian Colbert have all dealt with injuries, so whoever starts at safety for the 49ers, they will have to perform big. Expect Antone Exum or Dexter McCoil to get the start.

In San Francisco’s Week Two matchup with Seattle, Wilson finished the game 23-39 passing for 198 yards and the game-deciding touchdown to wide receiver Paul Richardson.

Let’s see who will win the first duel between these two quarterbacks!

Carlos Hyde

Carlos Hyde has become arguably, the best offensive weapon for the 49ers this season. In his contract year, he has been immensely impressive while maintaining his health for the most part.

He is the team’s leading rusher and with receiver Pierre Garcon out for the season with a neck fracture, Hyde has become the leading receiver.

In their Week Two game with Seattle, Hyde feasted on the Seahawks defense. He had 15 carries for 124 yards to go along with three receptions for 19 yards. An average of 8.3 yards per carry is certainly eye-catching and it will be imperative for him to have similar success if the 49ers want to pull off the upset for their second win of the season.

49ers Defensive Line

The San Francisco 49ers added two new defensive lineman while also seeing the return of another.

The 49ers claimed defensive tackle Sheldon Day from the Jacksonville Jaguars as well as defensive end and outside linebacker Cassius Marsh.

Tank Carradine has also returned from injured reserve adding to the depth along San Francisco’s defensive line.

Carradine has appeared in three games this season and has registered one sack. The team he had that sack against? The Seattle Seahawks.

This team needs to bring the heat against Wilson and a very inconsistent Seattle offensive line.
