The Jets have been one of the more surprising teams of 2017. Not that they’ve been great, but they’ve been a lot better than most everybody anticipated.

Given their offseason wheeling and dealing, most folks thought the Jets were planning on tanking the season to improve their chances at a high draft pick. But, Josh McCown has been surprising and has led the team to four more wins than anybody expected them to have.
Unfortunately for the Jets, wins over the final six games of the year are going to be tough to come by. That surprising 3-2 start has given way to losing four of their last five. Their only win in the last five games, coming over the Bills two weeks ago.
The trend you can see with New York’s losses is that teams have found ways to bottle up the run. The only loss they’ve had where the team has rushed for more than 100 yards came against Oakland in Week Two. In each of their other five losses though, the team has been held under the century mark.
Oakland holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over New York after their 45-20 shellacking in Week Two. But, in all fairness, looking at the road ahead, it doesn’t look like that will even come into play.
New York has some tough games coming up and although they were a nice story early on, they should likely be preparing themselves for a high draft pick, rather than a fight to the finish for a playoff berth.
Predicted Finish: 5-11
