The San Francisco 49ers were demolished by the visiting Dallas Cowboys with a final score of 40-10, leaving plenty of talking points heading into week eight.

Coming into the game, the Dallas Cowboys entered with a 2-3 record facing the San Francisco 49ers, who were 0-6, still looking for their first win. Fast-forward to the end of the game, the Cowboys are now back to .500 with a 3-3 record and the 49ers are still winless at 0-7.

After the 49ers lost the last five games by a total of 13 points, they lost again, but in a blowout of 30 points. Whether you say Levi’s Stadium is cursed or not, the 49ers were flat out terrible today. Nothing more, nothing less. Let’s get into what went down in Santa Clara.

Ezekiel Elliott

Oh man. The 49ers would have loved for Elliott to be serving his suspension for this game, but he wasn’t. Elliott finished the game with 26 carries,147 yards, two touchdowns on the ground, and one reception that led to a 72-yard touchdown.

The offensive line of the Cowboys was just too physical for the San Francisco defensive line, who were without key players Arik Armstead and Aaron Lynch. Not that it would’ve made much a difference.

Dak Prescott

Again, oh man. The 49ers secondary was beyond terrible today. Dak Prescott finished the game 16-25 passing with 234 yards and three passing touchdowns, while adding in a touchdown through the ground.

Rashard Robinson struggled massively today, mainly against Dez Bryant. Late in the game, Robinson was seen on the sideline throwing his helmet in anger. Prescott and the Cowboys sure knew how to expose this secondary and the 49ers just couldn’t stop it. Defensive backs Dontae Johnson, Jimmie Ward and Jaquiski Tartt all were tied with six tackles, which just goes to show their struggles.

C.J. Beathard

In what was a terrible performance by this offense, ironically, rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard was the 49ers’ lone spark, other than some big runs from running back Carlos Hyde.

Beathard finished the game with 235 yards passing on 22 completions out of 38 attempts with no touchdowns or interceptions. However, Beathard did rush in the only 49ers’ touchdown in the game.

The offensive line did not do their part in helping the rookie quarterback and it showed because Beathard was sacked five times and fumbled the football twice on sacks by Jaylon Smith and Demarcus Lawrence.

CJ Beathard will be facing an extremely tough defense next week in Philadelphia. If the offensive line comes out with another horrid performance, Beathard’s confidence won’t be very high.

Final Analysis

After suffering many heartbreaking losses, the 49ers were blown out by 30 points in what was just an overall terrible performance by this 49er team. Even on special teams they struggled, with rookie Trent Taylor fumbling the first punt he was returning. The 49ers go back on the road to face the Philadelphia Eagles, who are flying so far this season (no pun intended), so expect a preview later this week.

Next: 49ers-Cowboys Preview

This was the largest loss the 49ers suffered in Levi’s Stadium, the previous largest being a 41-23 loss to the New Orleans Saints last season. Reuben Foster and Trent Brown were also injured late in the game, so expect news about them soon.

If the 49ers play like this again next week, expect another embarrassing loss and an 0-8 start.
