Philadelphia 76ers per Robert Covington + Jahlil Okafor + second pick 2020

Trust the process” is at its crucial moment.

The picks collected in these last few depressing years have brought Philadelphia a young core with the potential to be a superteam. Markelle Fultz, Dario Saric, Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons are ready to lead the Sixers and to increase the hype created around this team.

Thanks to these youngsters, the Sixers also have a lot of cap room that allowed them to sign J.J. Reddick and Amir Johnson during the offseason. The potential addition of Thompson could be the final step for the Sixers in puttin it all together.

They could potentially have a roster that would make for an interesting top-five in the Eastern Conference. The Warriors, on the other side, would receive a tough defender in Robert Covington — he is in the last year of contract, so the trade could work with the same way imaged for Will Barton and the Denver Nuggets.

Jahlil Okafor, currently on the margins, but would have a chance to return to competitive basketball in a different environment like Golden State.

Interesting ideas, but as always with some problems related to Thompson’s future after the end of the contract. A deal would rely on Covington’s willingness to accept a sign-and-trade and to the real value of Okafor, who risks becoming a real bust in few years.
