The Oakland Raiders have a tough task in front of them if they want to build on last season’s success – here’s a prediction of how the regular season plays out record-wise.

The NFL schedule-makers didn’t do the Oakland Raiders any favors this year. Not only will this team have the fourth-toughest schedule in the league, they’re also set to travel the most miles of any team in the NFL.

To put this in a little perspective, not only will they be playing one of the toughest schedules in all of football, the 32,876 miles the Raiders are set to travel in 2017 are more than Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Green Bay, and Detroit – combined. Put together, those four teams will travel just 30,712.

If there is one saving grace for Oakland – and you really have to dig for one here – it’s that the teams ahead of them in the strength of schedule department are their division rivals – Denver (first), Kansas City (second), and the LA Chargers (third).

The Raiders ended a long playoff drought last season, going 12-4 and were in the driver’s seat for a coveted division title until the Grinch stole Christmas. In a Christmas Eve game with Indianapolis, Derek Carr suffered a broken leg – and the team never recovered.

After losing to Denver in the final week of the season, they watched Kansas City walk away with the AFC West crown. And that left the Raiders with a Wild Card date in Houston – and we all know how that turned out.

Oakland has a tough hill to climb if they want to replicate last season’s success. But this is a very talented team with the potential to be one of the best in the league. They need to prove it though, by putting together a quality regular season.

With that in mind, let’s take a projected look at how the regular season plays out for these Oakland Raiders…
