Oakland Raiders: Ranking The AFC West By Position Group – Running Backs

The Oakland Raiders have made some moves this offseason that have created quite a buzz around the league, with some thinking they have the best shot of de-throning New England – but how do they stack up in their own division?

In 2016, the Oakland Raiders had one of the most potent offenses in the league. Led by quarterback Derek Carr, the Raiders offense soared to heights it hasn’t been in quite some time. Oakland seemed able to score from anywhere at any time on the field when they needed it the most – as evidenced by Carr’s seven game winning drives last season.

The biggest reason why Oakland’s offense was so dynamic last year was in large part, thanks to the balance they enjoyed. For the first time in what feel like eons, Oakland had a lethal passing attack what was balanced perfectly with a very potent ground game.

Oakland’s ground game, led by the now-departed Latavius Murray, ranked sixth in the entire NFL last year. But Oakland’s ground game wasn’t limited to just Murray, with rookies Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington providing a dynamic and versatile spark.

Though, it should be rightly noted that Oakland’s ground game would not have been nearly as prolific without a beyond stellar cast up front, clearing the way.

Behind that monster of an offensive line, the Raiders put a running game on the field more powerful and dynamic than they’ve had in quite some time. And the passing game benefited as a result.

But with Murray now gone, how is it going to impact Oakland’s ground game moving forward? And how will it stack up with the ground games of their AFC West rivals?
