Dont’a Foreman

At six feet tall, 233 pounds, Foreman is a load. But he’s also quick and has tremendous balance and agility. With his combination of size and speed, he could be a capable replacement for Murray.

That’s not to say he won’t need a little work to get to that level though.

As a junior at Texas, Foreman was finally given a chance to be the team’s bellcow in the backfield. And he responded with a tremendous year. 323 carries for 2,028 yards (an average of 6.3 yards per carry) and 15 touchdowns on the ground.

That’s pretty good production for a guy who hadn’t had more than 94 carries in either of his first two seasons as a Longhorn.

The good news is that Foreman hasn’t generated a huge amount of pre-Draft hype or buzz. He’s very likely not going to be a first round pick, which means that if they’re interested, the Raiders may be able to address their more glaring needs first and then pick up Foreman in a later round.

According to some scouts, Foreman is going to need to work on running more aggressively, as well as on his pass protection – a must have for any Raider running back. But he’s proven that he can take on a hefty workload, can be hard to bring down, has the size to knock some defenders backward, and the agility to slip by others.

But those same scouts also say that he needs to be more decisive and can sometimes be more of a finesse back than a power runner.

He’d need some work, but Foreman is a tremendous athlete who could be a solid part of Oakland’s running game, capably stepping into Murray’s cleats.
