Jon Condo (LS)

It’s not a sexy or glamorous position, but long snappers play a critical role on the special teams. How many times have we seen a bad snap, or even a poor hold, result in a blown kick that costs a team dearly – sometimes, even an important game. (Paging Tony Romo)

Special teamers and specialists like long snapper Jon Condo rarely get the respect they deserve. But they’re valuable players and there are few in the business better than he is.

He’s been with the Raiders for a decade now and Oakland is bringing him back for the eleventh. Certainly, kicker Sebastian Janikowski and punter Marquette King value Condo’s talents and the stability he brings to the kicking game.

Condo signed a one-year deal with the team for $1.08 million dollars. And there is just $300k in guaranteed money.

Condo is the only free agent the Raiders had that they made an attempt to keep. Which should tell you quite a bit about his value and how much the organization respects him.

But given that his deal is for a single season – and Janikowski’s deal is up next year – this is very likely going to be the final ride for this duo in Silver and Black. Having been together so long, it only seems fitting that they depart together – let’s just hope the Raiders can send them both out a winner.
