Brandon Carr (CB)

At his age (31) and at this point in his career, Brandon Carr’s best days are probably behind him already. However, that doesn’t mean he still can’t be effective and produce at a high level.

A fifth round pick by Kansas City back in 2008, Carr has spent the last five seasons in Dallas, racking up 324 tackles (275 solo), three fumble recoveries, a sack, 48 passes defensed, and seven interceptions – two of which, were returned for touchdowns.

Carr could potentially be very productive in the slot corner role – and be a serviceable backup on the outside in case of injury. He’s experienced and in making 16 starts for the Cowboys last season, showed that he still has something left in the tank.

Next: Raiders Fans Need To Trust The Man And His Plan

The Cowboys are believed to want him back, and the Jets are believed to be interested in the veteran corner, but other than that, there hasn’t been a ton of market buzz about Carr.

One of Carr’s biggest assets is his reliability. Since being drafted in 2008, Carr has not missed a single game. Not one. He currently has a 144 game streak going. His durability is remarkable – and yet, seems to be taken for granted. Oakland could use a healthy, productive cornerback to man the slot.

Carr took a significant pay cut last season to remain with the Cowboys – dropping his base pay from $9 million to just over $4 million. But now, he finds himself back on the market again. Though he has some suitors, the market for his services has been a touch soft. Which could mean that McKenzie could swoop in, make him a team friendly offer – as well as a spot on a team that’s inching closer toward competing for a title.

That could perhaps, be enough to sway Carr. And if the price is right, McKenzie should strongly consider it, given the pressing need for a reliable slot corner.
