Prioritizing The Oakland Raiders’ Free Agency Wish List By Need
By Kevin Saito
The Reality
Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that Oakland is likely going to have to attempt an upgrade at many of these positions via the Draft, or through cheaper signings for second-tier players. The economic reality of Oakland’s cap situation dictate that McKenzie isn’t going to be able to go hog wild in free agency this year.
But if he’s smart with how he structures contracts – and is able to persuade some folks to maybe take a slight haircut for the chance to go after a title – he very well might be able to get one, or possibly two, of these guys into a Silver and Black uniform.

And if he’s forced to choose which positions to spend on, it should be a no-brainer – interior defensive line and/or inside linebackers. Upgrading those spots with players the caliber of a Poe or a Hightower would not only add some pop to this defense, it would help elevate it tremendously.
With a few smaller signings or draft picks, it could even help make this a top-ten defense in the league. Couple that with an offense that is already among the best in the NFL and you have a recipe for a potential championship.
