Where would the Angels have been without former Athletic Scott Spiezio? Beane watched Spiezio leave Oakland as a free agent in 1999 at which point the switch-hitting infielder took his skills to Southern California. From there he helped the Halos win the franchise’s first World Series by sticking a dagger in the San Francisco Giants’ hearts. Game ball for Russ Ortiz in the middle of Game 6?
