Oakland Raiders: A Few Predictions For Week Two Game With Falcons
By Kevin Saito
The Oakland Raiders narrowly escaped with a compelling victory over the Saints in week one – let’s look at a few predictions for week two against the Falcons.
The Oakland Raiders, for the most part, are probably feeling pretty good about themselves right now. They came away with a win in one of the more intense, exhilarating games we’ve seen them play in quite some time. Oakland’s offense went head to head with one of the best, most dynamic units in the league and after a back and forth final quarter, came away with a big win. A tone setting win.
Defensively speaking though, the Raiders were exposed. They gave up a staggering amount of yards to the Saints and in general, didn’t look great throughout the game. In fact, for the most part, they looked downright terrible. About the only positive you can take away from the performance of the defense was that they held Atlanta to under 100 yards rushing.

Of course, the fact that the Saints didn’t devote too much time or very many carries to establishing the ground game may have aided in that.
Fresh off last week’s win, the Raiders are going to get another stiff test as one of the league’s more dynamic offensive units rolls into town. Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons had the league’s sixth best passing attack last season and seventh overall.
And you can bet that after watching Drew Brees and the Saints absolutely torch Oakland’s secondary, they will be looking to do the exact same thing.
Atlanta is going to be looking to avoid starting the season 0-2 after putting up 24 points on Tampa Bay last week but coming up short. The Raiders on the other hand, will be looking to start the season 2-0 and keep building some momentum for a potential playoff push this year.
Who is going to come up big? And who comes up on the short end of the stick? Time will tell. Until then, here are a few predictions for week two’s game with the Falcons.
