After two consecutive losing weeks, where the team combined to go 4-9 in 13 games, the San Francisco Giants bounced back with a stronger week in the final week of April that stretched in to the first day of May. The Giants opened the week with a three-game sweep of the San Diego Padres at AT&T Park, getting them back above .500 after their dismal stretch. The bats came alive and things were good again.

The Giants ran into some very good pitchers during their first trip to the Big Apple to take on the New York Mets, falling at the hands of Steven Matz and Jacob deGrom to drop back under .500. They bounced back with a spirit-boosting win on Sunday, sticking it to early season Cy Young contender Noah Syndergaard to hand him his first loss of the season.

After their happy flight out of New York, the Giants will find themselves in Cincinnati for a three-game set before heading home for a seven-game homestand, during which they’ll host the Colorado Rockies for four and Toronto Blue Jays for three.

Before we get into the next week, let’s take a look back at the week that was, and recognize some standouts from another positive week for the Giants.
