This even year hasn’t gotten off to the start the San Francisco Giants were hoping for. In the third week of the season, the team dropped five of their seven games, all at home. The week began with a four-game sweeping by the Arizona Diamondbacks, but the Giants were able to gain some good mojo back by winning the first two games against the Miami Marlins before losing in the finale.

The series between the Giants and Marlins was a special one, as the Giants saw Barry Bonds return to AT&T Park for the first time in his new gig as the Marlins’ hitting coach. Bonds received great ovations from fans on multiple occasions, and had some very kinds words for those fans as well.

The homestand continues for the Giants on Monday, when they welcome the San Diego Padres to town for the first meeting between the two. After those three games, the Giants get their second off-day of the season on Thursday and head back on the road for three games in Flushing with the New York Mets. Before we get to that, let’s look back at some players who stood out in the past week.
