Round 3: San Antonio Spurs or Oklahoma City Thunder

It is really tough to see anyone making an appearance in the Western Conference Finals other than Golden State and San Antonio. With that being said, the possible match-ups for Golden State in the Western Conference Finals will be Oklahoma City, Memphis, Dallas, and San Antonio.

I don’t think many envision the Grizzlies or the Mavericks sneaking in to the Conference Finals, but if they do, props to them for proving me (and nearly everyone outside of Memphis and Dallas) wrong. Since the Spurs and Thunder will likely meet in the second round of the playoffs, anything could happen for a shot to dethrone the Dubs.

The series between the two teams is split at two apiece, with the Spurs earning a win in their second-to-last game of the season over the Thunder, a 102-98 overtime thriller.

The Warriors beat the Thunder in all three of their games this season, including a heroic performance from Curry which included an NBA record-tying 12 three pointers made, one of which was the game winning bucket from 32 feet out.

The Warriors are 3-1 against the Spurs, and their games have been well documented. The Warriors’ one loss came sans Andrew Bogut, Andre Iguodala, and Festus Ezeli, but they were able to keep it close throughout and only fell by eight points.

In the four marquee contests this season, the Warriors have averaged nearly 102 points per game, well below their NBA best 114.8 scoring mark. On the other side, the Spurs averaged 91 points per game against the Warriors.

If the Warriors and Spurs do meet in the WCF, it will likely be one of the most highly anticipated playoff match-ups of all time. They have a combined 140-24 record this season, and many feel that the winner of this series will ultimately win the NBA title.

Predictions: Golden State win series 4-2 over San Antonio OR Golden State wins series 4-1 over Oklahoma City
