The National Anthem

Super Bowl
Feb 7, 2016; Santa Clara, CA, USA; Recording artist Lady Gaga performs the national anthem before Super Bowl 50 between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos at Levi /

Singer, actress, and pop-art extraordinaire, Lady Gaga, was selected by the league this year to kick off the Super Bowl with her vocals. To not much of a surprise, she absolutely handled it in stunning fashion.

First off the attire:

Known for extravagant and over-the-top wardrobe choices, Gaga showed off her respect to the United States of America in a red coat with blue painted nails and white-blonde hair. Her artistic side won our eyes, but it was her elegant voice that stole the show.

Whitney Houston’s “National Anthem” will always remain one of the most emotional and powerful performances to kick off the Super Bowl, but Gaga’s rendition of the “National Anthem” was a memorable one too. Avoiding her usual pop style of singing, she opened up the vocal cords and poured out a heart-felt performance. Upon completion, the crowd roared, making her eyes puddled up.

Grammy winning performances and her rendition of Julie Andrew’s “Sound of Music” are nothing new for emerging queen of pop. Gaga one day could have a future singing on Broadway to add an already impressive array of talent. The NFL certainly made a wise choice to have Lady Gaga kickoff Super Bowl Sunday and she deserved the “Applause”.
