Left Tackle – Art Shell
Dominant. If there was one word to describe Art Shell, it would be that. Taken out of Maryland State in the third round of the 1968 AFL Draft by the Raiders, Shell would go on to star for the team for fifteen seasons.
Like some of his contemporaries such as Gene Upshaw, Shell’s resume is filled with awards and honors. He earned eight Pro Bowl selections, was a first team All Pro twice, a second teamer twice, was named to the 1970’s All Decade team, and was a three time Super Bowl champion. The Sporting News ranks Shell as the fifty-fifth greatest football player in history.
Shell capped off his career with his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989.
