Defensive Tackle – Bill Pickel
The Raiders used a second round pick – fifty-fourth overall – to take Pickel out of Rutgers. He wasn’t the biggest, strongest, or flashiest player ever, but he knew how to get the job done.
Pickel won the Super Bowl with the Raiders in his rookie season and was one of Oakland’s best sack artists. Over his eight seasons with the team, Pickel amassed 454 tackles and 53 sacks – a total which puts him fourth on the Raiders’ all time list.
Pickel’s best season came in 1986 when he collected 75 tackles and 11.5 sacks – his third straight season of double digit sacks – and was named first team All Pro.
