Wednesday night’s news shows that the Giants appear to be serious about upgrading left field — just as much as the deprived rotation they are looking to boost starting this Friday. While their options were declined, that doesn’t mean Aoki or Byrd will be discarded entirely. But if the Giants have the opportunity to bank on a left fielder, letting those two walk may be in the club’s best interest.
