Tony Mitchell is another training camp invitee for the Warriors. Mitchell was drafted 37th overall by the Detroit Pistons in the 2013 NBA Draft. Standing at 6’8″, Mitchell can play both the three and the four spot. While in college at North Texas, Mitchell earned a First-Team All-Sun Belt nod in 2012, as well as a Second-Team spot the following year. Mitchell was also named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the year in 2012.

After playing two years at North Texas, he was drafted by the Pistons, where he appeared in only 21 games. Mitchell spent some time playing in the D-League where he showcased his athleticism and three-point shooting potential. He saw time with both the Fort Wayne Mad Ants and the Grand Rapids Drive.

On Christmas eve, 2014, Mitchell was traded to the Phoenix Suns, but was waived two weeks later. Now, the Warriors have offered him a camp invite. He will look to showcase his talents to not only the Warriors, but the rest of the league. As stated before, the talent at the forward spot may be what prevents him from earning the final roster position, but if he has a decent showing this preseason, he could still end up on an NBA roster.

Mitchell holds career averages of one point and 1.2 rebounds on 41.7 percent shooting.
