Jason Thompson has a contract that is guaranteed this season, so unless something unforeseen happens, you can expect to see him in the final 15, and even getting some valuable minutes at the back up four or five spot. Nevertheless, he is a new addition to this team.
Thompson was the 12th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings, and had been with them up until this past offseason. While Thompson has never been a featured name on the Kings’ roster, he has played in no fewer than 64 games in any of his seven seasons.
Thompson was acquired in a deal that sent Gerald Wallace (acquired from the Boston Celtics in exchange for Lee) to Philadelphia in exchange for Thompson, whom they received from the Kings 21 days earlier. Thompson has great size for a power forward at 6’11”, and will likely see minutes there, as well as at center.
Thompson holds career averages of 9.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, and shoots nearly 50% from the field. While he he may not see any heavy minutes for the Warriors, he should be a nice addition to an already stacked roster.
