The newest addition to the Giants closet, this jersey was unveiled before the 2015 season. It was worn on Metallica Night at AT&T, as the members of the band performed for their home town crowd. This uniform is a welcome newcomer, considering the Giants hadn’t worn a black jersey since the 2002 season. Prior to that, the team had worn black uniforms on several occasions, dating all the way back to the New York days of 1905. The Giants have used black for their batting practice jerseys for years, and now made the move to wearing black full-time.

This jersey is black and features the same interlocking SF logo as both the caps and the Sunday road alternate (see below). The rest of the jersey is filled with orange accents, including an orange headspoon design similar to the black version seen on the orange and gray road uniforms. They stick with the standard home cream-white pants and black belt.

The other main difference is the use of a new sleeve patch. This new logo, features the Golden Gate Bridge prominently, with the Giants wordmark spanning the bottom of the bridge tower. Add in orange sleeve bottoms and you have a very black jersey that pops just enough.

The weird part about this uniform is that there is no real way to know exactly when it will be worn. The Giants announced it as a home alternate, so that rules out a lot of games. Other than that, however, the team simply said ‘select’ games, so it would appear to be a decision neither you nor I have a say in. Nevertheless, it’s great to see the Giants back in black full-time.
