Steph’s Return to the Garden

The superstardom of Stephen Curry happened virtually overnight. On February 27th, 2013, a pretty decent starting NBA point guard lit up New York City for a night when Curry exploded for a career high 54 points against the New York Knicks. The Warriors went on to lose the game 109-105, but that would become a footnote, as Curry’s showing was all anyone was talking about after the game.

  • After being snubbed of an All-Star appearance a few weeks earlier, the game felt like Curry’s way of showing the NBA what they missed out on. Curry has been a guy that has been overlooked since high school, and this night put him on everyone’s radar.

The performance basically showed the world what all Warriors fans already knew at the time, which was that Curry had unbelievable skill. The next night, Curry put on an encore performance, recording a triple double, this time in a winning effort.

Since that fateful night in 2013 the yearly return to Madison Square Garden is always one to watch for. Now the reigning MVP will take the floor again on January 31st, and you never quite know what is going to happen.
