Assessing the Golden State Warriors’ Summer League Team

Hardcore basketball fans around the Bay Area had their hearts broken when the Golden State Warriors fell to the New Orleans Pelicans in the quarterfinals of the third annual NBA Summer League tournament. The big league squad captured the Larry O’Brien Trophy in a Finals series win for the ages over LeBron James and the Cavaliers. The Santa Cruz Warriors of the D-League had a dominant season of their own, riding the developmental league’s best regular season record to a championship of their own.

With a three more wins from their Vegas Summer League squad, the Dubs would have sealed the elusive championship trifecta. Alas, Seth Curry and his new Pelican friends would not have it. Despite the disappointing 3-3 finish to their summer league campaign, Steve Kerr and his staff were given plenty of looks at potential camp players.

Summer League is the opportunity for players to make names for themselves and secure an NBA career. Let’s assess where the players that contributed to the Warriors Summer League effort stand with regards to the Dubs’ future roster plans.
