The Chargers had the 26th ranked defense against the run last season. And given their lack of offseason movement to upgrade the unit, there is no real reason to believe it will be any better this year.

San Diego finished 2014 giving up 124 yards a game. They also gave up a dozen runs of 20 yards or more. Strangely enough though, the only real moves the Chargers made this offseason were to sign Corey Liuget to a contract extension and sign Mitch Unrein away from the Broncos. Kendall Reyes is expected to again start at the other end position while Sean Lissemore will fill up the middle. And neither one is exactly – dominant.
Perhaps the Chargers are hoping their linebackers group will step up and help mask some of the deficiencies of the offensive line. Nobody can say for sure at this point. But unless the Chargers get some unexpected production from the bodies they have, San Diego’s defensive line may replicate last season’s very mediocre showing. At best.
