As we barrel toward the start of training camp, the Oakland Raiders have quite a few new faces in camp this year. Among them are newcomers Trent Richardson, Roy Helu who will be joining Latavius Murray and Marcel Reece in Oakland’s backfield.

Helu will provide a spark for the offense with his ability to catch balls out of the backfield, Murray will look to continue building upon last year’s successes, Richardson – who has been a big disappointment to this point in his career – but is looking to get said career back on track in Oakland. And of course, we’re all hoping the coaching staff finds room and carries for Reece as his role in the offense has floundered these last few seasons.
Though you wouldn’t know it based on the last few years (or more), the Raiders actually have a very long, very proud history of running backs. They may not have always been the flashiest players, but they were players who put the team first, lowered their shoulders, and did what needed to be done.
However, as we move forward, toward the eventual start to the season, it’s never wrong to look back at where we’ve been. With some new faces set to attempt to re-ignite that proud heritage at running back the Raiders have enjoyed, we give you five of the greatest Raider running backs of all time…
