The Giants’ new lineup and defensive formation has worked so far when they’ve used it. With Nori Aoki and Hunter Pence both out due to injuries, Belt has shifted into left field, with Buster Posey taking his spot at first base. That leaves the opening for rookie Andrew Susac behind the plate.

Susac has answered the bell so far, hitting a home run on Friday, and a three-run double on Saturday that proved to be the game-winning hit. That will likely be the everyday lineup until some outfielders return, except for when Bumgarner or Cain pitch. In that case, Posey would reassume catching duties.

The Marlins’ offense won’t have the same punch as the last time these two met. Giancarlo Stanton will miss the series as he is dealing with a broken hamate bone, and the lineup just doesn’t look as intimidating without him. Stanton totaled 27 home runs and 67 RBI before his injury. Rookie Justin Bour is now the team’s leader with six home runs, and Adeiny Hechavarria paces the team with 31 RBI.

Marcell Ozuna could be able to pick up some of the slack, especially against the Giants. In 14 games against San Francisco, Ozuna hits .306 with four double, three home runs and nine RBI.
