After a winning homestand, the San Francisco Giants get back on the road and make the dreaded cross-country trip to the east coast. They kick off a six-game road trip with a three-game set against the Miami Marlins, which will close out the season series between the two.
The Giants are coming off a series against the Colorado Rockies in which they won two of three, and finished the homestand with four wins in six games. The Marlins have lost 10 of their last 14 games, including two of three in their most recent series with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

San Francisco just keeps hanging around right behind the Dodgers in the National League West. With a 42-35 record, they are currently only a half-game back in the division, after the Dodgers lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday.
The only thing keeping the Marlins out of the NL East cellar is the Philadelphia Phillies, whose dysfunction could keep them there for years to come. Miami is 15 games under .500 at 31-46, 11.5 games behind the first-place Washington Nationals.
The Giants are 21-15 on the road, while the Marlins are 18-22 at home. The two teams split a four-game series at AT&T Park in early May. The winner of this series claims bragging rights for the season series.
