After a crushing loss on Tuesday in the series opener with the San Diego Padres, the San Francisco Giants pulled a couple of monkeys off their backs in the final two games of the set. Not only did they beat a team from the National League West that isn’t the Los Angeles Dodgers, they also scored runs at home. They scored a lot of runs at home, including a season-high 13 on Thursday.
The Giants now have to keep those monkeys away as the Colorado Rockies come to town. San Francisco is 3-6 against the Rockies this year, including a three-game sweep at AT&T Park earlier in the year.
Colorado, the NL West’s cellar-dweller, sits at 32-40 on the year, including a 15-18 mark on the road. The Rockies are coming off a series win against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and has won four of their last five games, but before that, they had lost nine of 10 games.
The Giants have four games remaining in June, and are currently 10-12 this month. If they win all four, they’ll have their first winning June since 2012, when they went 17-11. If the Giants win two or less, they’ll be under .500 for the third straight June.
