Kansas City Chiefs
Travis Kelce did something no other Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver did in 2014 – he scored. He scored five times, in fact. He was a definite bright spot for an otherwise dark and dreary passing game for the Chiefs last season.
And with Alex Smith back under center for Kansas City, it stands to reason that Kelce is going to be just as vital to the Chiefs’ offense again this year. For the season, Kelce caught 67 balls (on 87 targets) for 862 yards and the aforementioned five touchdowns.
It was an impressive showing for the second year tight end, who led the team in receiving yards and receptions, but was just behind Dwayne Bowe for number of targets on the year.
What is going to be key for Kelce and the Chiefs is health. If for some reason, Kelce went down with an injury like he did in his rookie season, it could spell big trouble for Kansas City. With Demetrius Harrris as his only viable backup at this point – a guy who has barely seen the field, let alone played on it – is going to be imperative that Kelce say healthy.
If Kelcy is unable to stay healthy, Kansas City fans may have to suffer through another season of not seeing any touchdowns through the air.
