Like Hunter, Portis will DEFINITELY not be there on the board when the Warriors draft at 30, but there could be some hope with reports surfacing that the team will look to move up in the draft. Overall, Portis is looking to become a solid NBA power forward. He has great size for the position, and his athletic ability is incredibly intriguing.

He posted the third-best agility time (11.71) and the second-best sprint time (3.56) among power forwards at the Combine. His 31.5-inch max vertical wasn’t all that great, but with a 9-foot reach, there’s no wonder why he averaged 4.5 offensive boards.

There’s no question to this guy’s motor, nor are there questions about his basketball IQ and overall instincts. He’s also developed an outside shooting stroke that extends to just before the arc, but it’s possible he could learn to extend his range with time.

The knock on Portis has to do with his abilities on the defensive end. He hasn’t yet polished his defensive rebounding fundamentals, and things are looking like he may not turn out to be a great rim protector despite his size. But with the Warriors’ second unit is defensive dynamo Festus Ezeli, so pairing him with the offensive-minded Portis could form a formidable twin tower frontcourt.
