Number Four: Jerry Porter

With the 47th overall pick in the 2000 draft, the Raiders took Porter out of West Virginia. He had decent size 6’2”, 220 lbs., had terrific athleticism, and had speed to burn.

  • But for all of his physical attributes, Porter was never truly embraced by the Raider Nation. He was never a fan favorite and often seemed to be less about the Raiders and more about Jerry Porter. Some might say, he was all about Jerry Porter all the time.

    Regardless of the tepid embrace of the Raiders’ fan base, Porter put up some pretty good number over the course of his eight seasons in Silver and Black.

    In his time with the Raiders – 105 games with 62 starts – Porter caught 295 balls for 4,120 yards, and 31 touchdowns. He also had a pretty healthy 14.0 yards per reception average.

    He was never a dominant number one receiver, and never put up 1,000 yards, but he was still a receiver that defenses had to game plan for.
