A Roster Full of Talent and Explosive Playmakers
GM Reggie McKenzie has taken a lot of heat in his time as the Raiders’ head man. Many of us have watched some of his roster moves with nothing short of horror, confusion, and disdain. Needless to say, many of us have taken our fair share of potshots at the man.
But it looks like we’re the ones with egg on our faces, and have been all along – we just didn’t know it at the time.
McKenzie, whose front office pedigree comes from the Green Bay organization, has a philosophical opposition to overspending for veteran free agents, and a stated belief in building through the draft. Most of the heat he’s taken is because it’s a slow, and sometimes ugly process to watch. And fans all want immediate results.
After navigating the team through the salary cap hell the late Al Davis left behind, McKenzie finally began to implement his plan and his vision for the team – and here in 2015, Mckenzie’s plan and vision are finally coming into sharp focus. And from this perspective, it is a glorious sight.
Oakland’s roster is arguably, the most talented it’s been since that 2002 Super Bowl run. With playmakers up and down the roster, from Derek Carr to Khalil Mack to Amari Cooper, and more, the Raiders have a very talented team. They have an offense that has the potential to be absolutely electric, and a defense that is loaded for bear.
Bill Musgrave is tasked with giving some life to Oakland’s offense and taking them to the next level – and with players like Carr, Cooper, Latavius Murray, Mychal Rivera, and Clive Walford, he is going to be able to do just that. And that defense, led by Mack, Sio Moore, Charles Woodson, and Justin Tuck is taking on the fiery, nasty personality of Del Rio and DC Ken Norton Jr., which is good news for Raider fans, but very bad news for opposing offenses.
