3. Week 4-Green Bay Packers

The Packers and 49ers have very similar histories. Both have a long history of football excellence, and of having star quarterbacks.

And Green Bay’s latest thrilling thrower, Aaron Rodgers, is no exception.

  • Coming off a heart breaking loss to the Seahawks in overtime of the NFC Championship game last season, the Packers remained intact at their core and are looking for further success.

Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson may just be the most fearsome receiving duo in the league — especially for a team stretched impossibly thin in the secondary like San Francisco. The 49ers lost both starting cornerbacks from 2014, meaning they will be relying on a rotation of unproven players this early in the season.

There has also been bad blood between these two foes, as seen in 2013 when linebacker Clay Mathews tackled Colin Kaepernick so late after the play that even Joe Buck couldn’t come up with a reason why it was Kaepernick’s fault. The teams got into a shoving match, and the game was testy the rest of the way.

The 49ers went on to defeat the Packers in the playoffs for the second straight year, furthering the Packers’ disdain for the 49ers.
