Vaughn stirred up some controversy when he entered the draft after his freshman year. He had a successful rookie campaign, but he was not one of the big three freshman in Karl Anthony-Towns, Jahlil Okafor, and D’Angelo Russell. His entrance shocked some at first, but his play during the season, along with his high potential make him a very potent first-round draft pick.

Vaughn averaged 17.8 points, 1.6 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 43.9 percent in 32.3 minutes per game.

  • Vaughn also had the impressive stat of averaging 2.3 three-pointers made per game. As fans know around the league, the Warriors live and die by the three. Rostering the Splash Brothers in Curry and Thompson dictates that many three-pointers will be shot.

Surprisingly though, the team only has one player who averaged 1.0+ three pointers made per game. Andre Iguodala is the team’s current sixth man, but with the potential of him being cut, Vaughn can come in and show his three point prowess and be molded into the team’s sixth man of the future.

Leandro Barbosa and Justin Holiday are both free agents after the year. With Green most likely commanding the max amount of money, bringing both of them back might find tough. Vaughn could fill in and play the one or two guard with the bench team alongside Shaun Livingston.

Vaughn’s three-point ability, mixed with his versatility to play both guard positions, would make him a great pick for the Warriors.
