7 of 10 Draft Picks Signed

Oakland has a very interesting rookie class. They have a few players like Amari Cooper, Mario Edwards Jr. and Clive Walford who can step in and have a huge impact immediately. They also have some interesting depth and role players like Max Valles, Neiron Ball, and Ben Heeney, who are projects – who we’ll see mainly on special teams to start – but who have the potential to make big contributions to this team.

With Ball and Heeney signing this week, that brings the total number of Raiders’ draft picks now officially under contract to seven out of their ten selections.

Despite not being under official contract, the Raiders’ rookies have been taking part in the rookie minicamp as well as the first week of OTA’s. The rookies have been in and around the team, soaking in all of the knowledge they can, and trying to make a seamless transition into the NFL – or at least, as seamless as possible, anyway.

Of course, superstar in the making Cooper was the first to sign – which is arguably, one of the most important signings the Raiders have had in a decade. The only rookies not currently under contract are Edwards Jr., Walford, and Dexter McDonald, thought they should be signing their deals soon.
