Garret Celek

Celek brings a little bit of name value with him, as his brother is Brent Celek of the Eagles. Brent’s play has faltered as the years have gone by, and Garrett’s play never really got there.

He has a little bit of Carrier to his game with ideal height,6’5″ 252 lbs, three seasons played, and a minimal amount of starts. Celek has only seen thirteen targets in his career and only has 142 receiving yards to his name. His offensive numbers are far from impressive.

  • Celek has spent all three years of his career with the 49ers, but has dealt with multiple injuries during that time. Ranging from hamstring pulls to a bulging disc, Celek has been a health liability, leading to questions about his ability to remain on the roster.

What Celek does bring to the table is that he is a mauler as a run blocker on the outside. His big frame lets him become an above average run blocker and will allow for Kaepernick to have more running lanes.

Celek’s blocking ability gives him a chance to remain on the roster, but his offensive game puts his roster chances in jeopardy.

Celek will most likely have to battle for TE3 duties, and with the 49ers drafting two TE’s this year, it is hard to see Celek winning the battle and sticking going into the season.
