In this episode of “The Kings Court,” CowbellKingdom’s  James Ham joins the show for the second consecutive year to review the Sacramento Kings’ season and expectations for the offseason.

Though grading a team is not the norm for James; he couldn’t help but give the letter grade the Sacramento Kings 2014-2015 season deserves.

That grade has to be obvious, right?

This Kings’ season was filled with so many problems, calling it a disappointment is an understatement. After an amazing start to the season under coach Michael Malone, finally showing promise that this team is heading in the right direction, the front office decides to let Malone go during mid-December, which ultimately became the beginning to what would be a downward spiraling season.

James gives his thoughts on the Kings head coaching position, and how they handled going through not just two different coaches this season, but three. With the news about Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Scott Brooks being let go, the show will give their opinions on whether or not the Kings jumped the gun too quick on hiring George Karl.

It’s obvious that the Sacramento Kings were wanting pace. That is what the teams’ front office has been preaching since taking over the team. They want a fun on-court product going into the new arena coming in 2016.

Coach Karl brings that pace that the team is looking to get, but what are the biggest scheming differences that could be seen between both Malone and Karl? James breaks down the major differences between the two coaches and the things that can be expected when you look at game film.

The hiring of coach Karl was not a smooth hiring to say the least. Rumors leaked from the front office were going around that DeMarcus Cousins and his camp were strongly against the hire of coach Karl. However, Cousins came out and was very adamant that this rumor was not true at all.

The bridges between both Cousins and the front office seem to slowly be turning into a dark alley walk. Although Cousins had a career-year this year, being named an All-Star for the first time in his five-year career, trade rumors started to come out that the Kings and the Denver Nuggets were looking at a possible deal that would involve Cousins.

The trade was rumored to be Ty Lawson, Kenneth Faried, and the Nuggets’ pick for Cousins. As we have seen, that did not happen, but the front office and Cousins’ relationship were now heading even more in the wrong direction.

James will give his thoughts on the Cousins and front office situation. The show will breakdown Cousins play this season and how even though this year was a phenomenal year for him individually, King’s fans may need to brace themselves for an unfriendly departure between Cousins and this Kings’ franchise.

This Sacramento Kings front office has burned the bridges this year between them and not just Cousins, but also this entire team. With so much turmoil going on between the two sides, Pete D’Allessandro and his time with the Kings’ franchise is also in question.

Though James expects D’Allessandro to return next season, he also expects this offseason to be a very pivotal one for him to show that he is moving this team in the right direction.
