If a team wants a player who is a winner and has experience, Grant would be a great option. During Grant’s senior season at Ohio State, they won the 2015 National title as he and the defense helped shut down the high powered Oregon offense.

At the combine, he put up a 4.44 40 time, 21 reps of 225 lbs in the bench press. He followed that up with a pro day where he recorded a 35″ vertical at the Pro Day. Grant is 5’10” and 200 lbs, which is a bit undersized for corner. His smarts and awareness though, make up for the size differential he has with most corners in the league today.
In the 2014 NFL Draft, the 49ers brought in Jimmie Ward who was also a bit undersized, but played bigger than he really was. The experience and sure tackling is what attracted the 49ers.
Grant has the ability to be tough against the run and to also drop back in the coverage to disrupt passes. He rarely misses tackles and always looks for contact. Grant has those abilities to bring to the 49ers. Perrish Cox and Chris Culliver are now gone, so Grant would have to compete with Chris Cook, Dontae Johnson, and Tramaine Brock for the two corner spots.
While Grant is no Bradley Roby, he should be the next big name cornerback out of Ohio State to have an impact in the NFL.
