The big news out of the Bay Area on Thursday is that the Oakland Raiders have signed offensive tackle J’Marcus Webb. We’ll give you a moment to catch your collective breaths.
Given the fact that the Raiders seem pretty set at tackle with Donald Penn on one side and Autsin Howard sliding back over on the other side, Webb will likely be fighting for a back up role with Menelik Watson. It’s a battle he could lose and wind up being cut before the regular season ever starts. But hey, depth.
And that concludes this scintillating edition of Raider News and Information.
Yeah, it’s like that right about now. With just under a month to go until the draft, and given the current dearth of hard information, people seem to be running out of things to talk about. The big wave of free agency is over, and the flow of players changing teams has tapered off to a small trickle, with signings of back up players, camp guys, and guys hoping for one last shot, being all that’s going on.
But as they say, nature abhors a vacuum. And into that void of news and information, we have been inundated with a million different rumors about who’s coming, who’s going, and what the team is planning on doing.
Some of the rumors floating around make a certain amount of sense, and may even come to fruition at some point. Other rumors though, are so utterly bizarre that you nearly have to question the sanity of the person passing it along. Though who knows, maybe those will come to fruition at some point too. Nobody ever said that life and football were logical things, after all.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at just a few of the rumors that we’d love to see take a long walk off a short pier…
