12. Tim Lincecum’s Second No-Hitter

Lincecum has been a fan favorite since 2008. He has captivated the city by his unusual delivery and lack of intimidation. But Lincecum found a way to make it all work in consecutive seasons against the San Diego Padres.

His latest no-no, however, is far more impressive, because it required less pitches, and Lincecum only walked one-hitter. Furthermore, he was so dominant that he did not need an excellent defensive play to keep his masterpiece intact, no Dwayne Wise or Gregor Blanco making incredible catches to save him, just pure “freaky” greatness. After struggling for the past three seasons, this was a chance for San Franciscans to fully embrace their Little Freak That Could.

The Giants showed their appreciation to the right-hander in a lengthy celebration on the field, as they were so excited that it seemed the team had just won a World Series title. At the time, the Giants were faltering, the losses kept piling on as they would later cough up a 10-game divsion lead on the Los Angeles Dodgers and would have to compete for a Wild Card spot.

Moments like this enhanced the clubhouse chemistry and served as a confidence booster for a struggling team. We’ll see if Lincecum can rekindle this magic in 2015.
