Tuesday, March 24th – 76ers 106 @ Kings 107

The Kings threw it back to the old Royals days once again, donning the beautiful royal blue (see what I did there) uniforms for the game against Philadelphia. The 76ers may be one of the worst teams in the NBA on paper, but you can never underestimate a roster full of young and athletic players. Nerlens Noel is long and lanky, and puts up a good fight with Cousins every time they meet.

Through the first two quarters, the Kings put up a decent 61 points. 61 would be good except for the fact that the Sixers put up 70. The 76ers were averaging less than 92 points a game, which makes such a high first half score startling.

The Kings finally buckled down defensively in the second half, not letting Philadelphia get many easy looks. The Kings were consistent and outscored the 76ers 24-14 in the third quarter. The fourth quarter was quite a battle, with both teams trading leads and big dunks (along with turnovers).

The game was tied at 105 a piece with one minute to go in the game, and it came down to the Kings leading 107-106 with six seconds left on the clock. Cousins and company held firm on defense and didn’t allow Philadelphia to get off a shot to potentially win the game. Cousins ended with 33 points, 17 rebounds, and four blocks.

The cowbells were in full effect, Sign Lady was throwing up more signs than ever, the crowd simply seemed frenzied; and who could blame them?

The cowbells were in full effect, Sign Lady was throwing up more signs than ever, the crowd simply seemed frenzied; and who could blame them? While it’s too late to make a playoff push this year, Sacramento seems to finally be putting the pieces together for an impressive campaign next season.

That’s pretty exciting to be able to say about a team that’s gone through three coaches in one season.

The Kings now head out on a road trip to play the Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans, and Memphis Grizzlies to close out the month of March. It doesn’t promise to be easy by any means, but the team that has been out there recently sure looks to have a shot to win just about every night, which is exciting to say the least.
