Saturday, March 14th – Kings 97 @ Wizards 113

Sacramento finished a road trip on the East Coast with a matchup against the Washington Wizards, the current number five seed  in the Eastern Conference. The game went well for Cousins, as he racked up 30 points, six rebounds, and five assists. The team was clicking, putting up 64 points in the first half alone.

  • Unfortunately for Cousins and company, John Wall contributed 31 points overall, and Paul Pierce shot 5-for-5 in the second half. In the fourth quarter, the Wizards put up 29 points to the Kings’ 12 points to defeat the Kings 113-97.

Clearly, the absence of on-court motivator Gay (strained knee tendon) contributed to the lackluster second half, as the team lost a lot of steam and the lead rather quickly. Sacramento ended their eight-game road trip 2-6 and were looking forward to returning home, as Coach Karl said after the game that the team was tired from their long road trip.

The team returned to Sacramento to play five home games, with four of the opposing teams poised to make playoff runs. No matter the opponents, the team was surely looking forward to being back at home for a while.
