Corey Wootton

There are probably a lot of people out there asking, “Corey who?”

Wootton played mainly in a reserve role over his five season career – primarily spent in Chicago. In 2012, he made just seven starts for the Bears, but notched seven sacks. In limited snaps over his career so far, Wootton has a dozen sacks to his credit.

Granted, those aren’t the numbers of an elite edge rusher. But Wootton hasn’t really gotten the chance to develop into even a consistent edge rusher. He has made just 22 starts in 60 career games, but has showed some potential.

As desperately as the Raiders need pass rushing help, they should at least kick the tires on Wootton. At 27, he’s still young. He has a lot of tread left on his tires. And you just never know what sort of gems you might unearth if you dig deep enough.

At the very least, Wootton could be a solid rotational or situational player. At best, with a chance to play consistent snaps, he could develop into a pass rushing beast.
