Oakland Raiders: 5 Free Agents on The Market Who Are Worth a Look

Now, before any of you go off in screaming, convulsing fits, it must be acknowledged up front that Bowers’ career to this point has been, to put it mildly – disappointing. He certainly has not lived up to the billing that led Tampa Bay to take him in the second round of the 2011 draft.
With just seven sacks in his four season career, Bowers hasn’t looked anything like the disruptive, pass rushing terror he was in college.

But the thing to keep in mind is that Bowers is just 25 years old. The Raiders have gone out of their way to look at bringing in younger guys this offseason, and Bowers certainly fits that part of the equation.
Why he never performed in Tampa is a mystery. But a change of scenery may be just what Bowers needs to jump start his career again. It’s a formula the Raiders have used for a long time – bring in a player tossed upon the scrap heap and revitalize his career. It’s worked so well in the past for Oakland, why not give it another shot?
The best part of it is, given how disappointing his career has been, Bowers can likely be had very cheaply. It’s a low risk, high reward opportunity that McKenzie would be foolish to not explore.
