Chris Stewart – Buffalo Sabres
Stewart, who was acquired by Buffalo a few days before last years’ deadline in the deal that sent goalie Ryan Miller to St. Louis, has been on the trading block ever since Buffalo acquired him. The fact that Buffalo has been so willing to listen to offers for him may make his value go down. There are however, a lot of teams looking at Stewart, which in theory could make his price tag rise. He is a skilled, physical winger that can play on the second or third line, and could fit in on a first line if you needed him to.
Stewart, who is an UFA this offseason, fits in to Wilson’s plan to get younger, as he is just 27 years-old. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound forward has 11 goals and 14 helpers in 60 games. He is also is a -30 with 63 PIMs and 81 hits.
To get Stewart, the Sharks are going to have to give up a good prospect and a draft pick — which are both things that Wilson does not like to give up.
