Sacramento Kings: Midseason Grades
Mandatory Credit: Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports
Overall, this early season has felt like a disappointment. Yet, it is important to keep in mind that the early season success was the first real success the Kings have felt in years. The hopes for this season are to continue to develop talent and chemistry and to establish an identity as a basketball team.
The team needs more depth, a stretch four that can play effective weak-side defense, and consistency in playing with grit and determination. Kings fans are used to waiting, and there is still more waiting to be done.
The Western Conference is stacked and there is still quite a bit of work to be done before the Kings will crack that ceiling. The silver lining is that Cousins, Gay, and Collison, along with a host of other up-and-comers, are a sign of good faith that the Kings are trying again, and the best is yet to come.
