Sacramento Kings: Midseason Grades

Bench
The grade for the bench sounds harsh, but it’s not really for a bench squad that provides less than 25 percent of the team’s offense and has an average of just under -3.0 +/- on the court as a unit. There is a significant drop off at every position when the bench comes on to the court. The coaches have been unable to find a cohesive unit coming off the bench, and aside from Omri Casspi, the rest of the bench is typically terribly inconsistent.
There have been a few bright spots; Landry always seems to come up with offensive rebounds and some semblance of scoring when he plays. In addition, Nik Stauskas has shown flashes of shooting prowess, and there is hope for a second year surge just like McLemore from behind the arc. Evans also brings in great defense and rebounding.
This does not change the fact, however, that the bench needs some serious re-working before it can be counted on to provide solid minutes of rest and production for this team.
